β Are You Worried About an Adult at Risk of Harm?
Everyone has the right to live safely, free from harm, abuse, or neglect.
Adult Support and Protection is about keeping adults in Inverclyde safe from harm β whether that harm is caused by others, or through self-neglect.
π€ We all have a role to play in protecting vulnerable adults in our communities.
π€ What Is an βAdult at Riskβ?
An adult may be at risk if they:
Are unable to safeguard their own wellbeing, property, rights, or other interests
Are at risk of harm
Are more vulnerable because of disability, illness, mental health issues, or physical or mental infirmity
Harm can happen anywhere β π at home, ποΈ in the community, or π₯ in care settings.
β οΈ Types of Harm
Harm can include:
π· Financial harm β misuse of money, fraud, pressure around finances
π©Ή Physical harm β assault or inappropriate restraint
π¬ Emotional or psychological harm β threats, humiliation, intimidation
π« Neglect β lack of care, food, heating, or medical support
π Self-neglect β when someone is unable to care for themselves
If something doesnβt feel right, trust your instincts.
π£οΈ Speak Up β You Might Be the Missing Piece
It can feel difficult to report a concern. You may think someone else has already done so.

If you see something youβre worried about β please say something.
